The way you decide to deal with jealousy or any other negative emotion is the key to getting rid of it. If you allow it to manipulate you it will do exactly that without a second thought.
But if in case you choose to battle it and win consider the following:
You’re the strongest opponent
The person you see in the mirror is the strongest and the most trustworthy around. Envy and other emotions form depending on how you feel inside and much less depending on the way you made yourself look. If you are an introvert by nature then you’re locked in a small chest without a hole to shine through. Low self-esteem is a factor that holds you back. However, everyone has a talent or at the very least a trait that makes them stand out. Discover and work on it.
Question the norm
You are born, you go to school, you get a degree, you get a job, you find a lover, you get married and you have kids. This chain of events in life is considered the most normal. However not everyone can stick to it for a number of reasons. It may be that you don’t have enough funds to afford studies or maybe you don’t believe in the mystery of marriage. Usually jealousy becomes a part of those who didn’t manage to follow the aforementioned plan. But on the one hand you never know what is behind the door of a house and on the other just ask yourself if this is what you really want.
Make a record of your mood changes every hour
Usually the outbursts of anger, sadness and even jealousy aren’t spontaneous but instead they are simply… there. So in order to deal with jealousy for example you need to figure out the cause of it. Is it just another bad feeling after a night of not-so-good sleep? Or does it come from inability to accept the fact that a colleague who works less is paid more? Try making a record of changes in your mood and emotions throughout the day and you will soon learn what bothers you.
